Digital Wallet Electrum was hacked, losing 250 bitcoins.

B: Electrum server can customize messages to appear in the user's electrum light wallet software, giving hackers a chance to broadcast phishing messages.

According to Reddit user u/normal_rc, electrum's wallet was hacked and nearly 250 bitcoins (243.6 BTCs, nearly $1 million) were maliciously stolen, according to coinelegraph. Electrum then confirmed that the attack included creating a fake version of the wallet to trick users into providing password information. Electrum responded on Twitter that "this is a persistent phishing attack on Electrum users" and warned users not to download Electrum from any source other than the official website.

Electrum is a popular software wallet that works by connecting to a dedicated server. These servers receive a hash of the Bitcoin address in the wallet and reply with transaction information. Electrum wallets are fast and have few resources, but by default, it connects to these servers and can easily monitor users. In addition to Electrum, some other software uses public Electrum servers. By 2019, it is a faster and better alternative to BIP37.

Note: Electrum-XZC is derived from Electrum and uses different seed phrase criteria, so it cannot be imported.

In recent days, hackers or hacker groups have stolen more than 200 bitcoins worth about $750,000 by attacking the infrastructure of electrum Bitcoin wallets. The attacker is targeting Electrum.

Currently, hardware wallets like Trezor and Ledger are considered the safest way to store bitcoins because they can be unlocked offline to protect keys from online theft. However, one limitation of hardware wallets is in terms of software engagement because they are not compatible with different software. Trezor, for example, supports only software wallet Electrum, not other wallets like Bitcoin Core.

One of the main features of Tails is that it transmits all Internet traffic over Tor, a network that encrypts and makes all connections anonymous, hiding the user's real IP address. Facebook and the FBI exploit vulnerabilities in the Tails video player system, known as GNOME, to track criminals' IP addresses.

Bitcoin Wallet Electrum now supports Lightning Online Payments According to Coindesk July 11th, Bitcoin Wallet Electrum now supports Lightning Web Payments. It has previously been reported that Bitcoin Wallet Electrum has released a beta version of Electrum 4.0, adding support for the Bitcoin Lightning Network.

In this demo, Electrum developer Chris Belcher shows how to set up and use an Electrum personal server.

Electrum posted a message about the incident on Twitter today, claiming that "there are currently phishing attacks against Electrum users" and imploring users to check the validity of their login information.

Lesson 1: Third-party Electrum servers can link your two transactions together. This can be avoided by running your own Electrum server, supported by your own full node.

By default, electrum wallets are randomly connected to a set of Electrum servers. From a privacy perspective, this is not a good thing because it discloses your wallet address and balance to unknown third parties. And unfortunately, many public Electrum servers are run by individuals or groups of blockchain analytics companies or worse. Therefore, if you are using an Electrum wallet, it is generally recommended that you run your own Electrum server and then connect the wallet to that server.

To use mnomets to transfer addresses from electrum wallets to web wallets, you need to set Electrum to be compatible with Qtum phone mnomets in the initial installation (and then use phone wallet mnomets to restore phone wallets on Electrum). Bitcoin Wallet Electrum will support the Lightning network in the next release, and its Lightning nodes have been merged into electrum's main branch, according to Cointegraph. Electrum also confirmed that the wallet will be written in-house development Python.

This isn't the first time Thatectrum has appeared in a fake version, with hackers developing a fake encrypted wallet, Electrum, in December, resulting in the theft of nearly 250 bitcoins worth about $1 million. In January, GitHub discovered a fake Electrum wallet called "Electrvm" designed to steal users' money. In February, users of encrypted wallets Electrum and MyEtherWallet reported that they were facing phishing attacks.

According to the slow fog zone, the Phishing attack by Electrum forged upgrade tips has stolen at least 200 BTCs, and this attack cannot be avoided by upgrading Electrum alone, requiring the entire ecological service to make corresponding changes (because Electrum is not a full node, and then on the transaction broadcast and the corresponding server has a message communication, the attacker can also deploy a malicious server)

Cryptocurrencies Wallet Electrum has lost nearly 250 bitcoins (approximately $914,000) as a result of the new phishing attack. Electrum has confirmed the authenticity of the attack. An attacker could induce a user to provide password information by creating a fake wallet.

According to The Next Web, the attackers even implemented their own Electrum servers, which hosted the attacked Electrum.
